8 Simple Fashion Tricks Everyone Should Know

Below is the list of 8 fashion tips and tricks everyone should know.

1. REMOVE OIL FROM SHIRT

Got oil or grease stains on your shirt? Use baby powder to remove the stain. Cover grease or oil spot on cloth generously with baby powder. Cover the stained area entirely, as this will help absorb the grease. After 4-5 minutes brush off the powder with your fingers then you should start seeing the grease spot disappear while you brush. Run your clothes through a regular wash cycle.

2. STRETCH OUT SHRUNKEN CLOTHING

If your shirt has shrunk in the wash, then here’s a fix to restore your shirt to it’s original size. Fill a clean sink or plastic tub with cool water. Don’t use hot water, as it will tighten the fibers even more. Pour 1/4 cup of hair conditioner into the sink. Now soak your shirt in the sink for 30 minutes and gently stretch it back to its original shape. The conditioner softens the fibers and allows you to stretch the shirt back into shape.

3. STRETCH OUT TOO-TIGHT SHOES

Shoes too small? Stretch them out using ice bags. Fill up two plastic ziplock bags with water. Check for leaks and remove all air from the bag. Place the bags in each shoe. Keep the shoes in the freezer until the water is completely frozen. This may take anywhere between 4 to 8 hours. The water in shoes will freeze, expand, and stretch out your shoes.

4. CLEAN LEATHER SHOES

Polish your shoes the eco-friendly and inexpensive way using olive oil. It’s a safe and natural alternative to commercial polishes. First, remove any laces in your shoes, since you don’t want them to get oily. Now, using a damp cloth wipe your leather shoes down to get the major dust and dirt off. This next step is where you apply the olive oil on shoes. Wipe down the shoes with a clean cloth with a light coating of olive oil until it shines.

5. CLEAN WHITE SNEAKERS

Toothpaste works great for cleaning dirty sneakers. Use a non-gel white toothpaste. Use an old toothbrush to apply toothpaste to your shoes. Work the paste into dirty spots. Once you have worked the toothpaste into the fabric of the shoes, leave it for about 10 minutes. Then wipe the toothpaste off using a damp towel and dry off your shoe after.

6. MAKE JEANS LAST LONGER

Soak your jeans in cold water and vinegar instead of washing them. Add one cup of distilled white vinegar to a cold water bath and soak your jeans for about an hour. This technique locks in the dye’s color, keeping your Jeans from fading.

7. REMOVE PILLING FROM CLOTHING

A pilling is formation of small balls of fluff on the surface of fabrics. It usually occurs from extended wear and washing. To remove pilling from your clothes just spread the fabric across a flat surface and pull it taut. Then using a razor, carefully shave the pilling away from the fabric. Be careful with the razor, especially around seams, buttons and stitching because it can easily cut into the fabric.

8. FIX A LOOSE BUTTON ON SHIRT

Use Nail polish to keep buttons from falling off your Shirt without the needle and thread. Apply a small dab of clear nail polish to the frayed threads. Make sure to cover all of the thread on the button face with polish but don’t over apply. Allow the polish to dry before adjusting the button.
